A bookkeeping catch-up with a side of good food! 📚🍽️

There’s nothing better than getting together with fellow bookkeepers, swapping stories, sharing ideas and, of course… enjoying some delicious food along the way! 😋

Our team tonight, had the pleasure of catching up with the wonderful Cheryl from Southern Vale’s Bookkeeping. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect, have a few laughs, talk all things bookkeeping and enjoy some well-deserved time together.

And judging by the photos, we certainly didn’t go hungry! 😂🍴

📢 2026–27 Federal Budget — What It Means for You
The Government has dropped some big tax changes and here's what you need to know:
💰 For individuals:
A $1,000 standard work deduction kicks in from 1 July 2026 — no receipts needed (unless you're claiming more). Plus further tax rate cuts and a $250 Working Australians Tax Offset on the way.
🏠 Property investors:
Negative gearing rules tighten from 1 July 2027 for properties bought after 12 May 2026, and the CGT 50% discount is being replaced with indexation + a 30% minimum tax. Existing properties and new builds? Largely protected for now.
🏢 Business owners:
The $20k instant asset write-off is now permanent. Loss carry-back is back. Start-ups get refundable losses in their first two years. Big wins here. 🙌
🤝 Trusts:
Discretionary trusts face a minimum 30% tax from 1 July 2028 — if you operate through a trust, now is the time to get advice.
🚗 EVs:
The full FBT exemption winds back from 1 April 2029, replaced with a 25% discount.
These are proposed changes — nothing is law yet. But planning ahead is everything. 👇
