WINDSOR AND THE SURROUNDING AREA STAY INFORMED about predicted rising flooding on the Hawkesbury River.
WHAT ARE WE EXPECTING?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises Moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast across the Hawkesbury Nepean Valley this weekend, which is saturated from recent rainfall. This rainfall may cause minor flooding at Penrith, and moderate flooding at North Richmond, and Windsor during Sunday into Monday. Earlier and higher river level rises are possible and the situation is being closely monitored and updated predictions will be provided as required.
With forecast rainfall the Hawkesbury River at Windsor may exceed the minor flood level (5.80 m) during Sunday. The river level may reach the moderate flood level (7.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday. Further rises possible.
Based on predictions from the Bureau of Meteorology, the following areas may be impacted by floodwaters:
📏💦 Cornwallis, may be isolated
📏💦 Gronos Point may be isolated for 3-4 days due to inundation of Grono Farm Rd (approx. 6.5m at Windsor)
📏💦 Property isolations along Pitt Town Bottoms Rd
📏💦 Isolation of Pitt Town from McGraths Hill due to inundation of Pitt Town Rd
📏💦 Parts of Lower Portland, Colo Height, Upper Colo, Central Colo, Lower MacDonald, Webbs Creek, Leets Vale may become isolated
📏💦 Windsor Bridge may be closed
📏💦 North Richmond Bridge may close at RMS discretion
📏💦 It is also likely that the following vehicular ferries may cease operations at or around 3m: Lower Portland Ferry, Sackville Ferry, Webbs Creek Ferry and Wisemans Ferry.
📏💦 Cornwallis Rd at Rickabys Creek may be closed, cutting the last access to the Richmond Lowlands area.
📏💦 Pitt Town Rd at McKenzies Creek and at Glebe Rd may be inundated
📏💦 Pitt Town Rd is also cut between Saunders and Wolesley Rd’s, leaving Saunders Rd as the last possible escape route
📏💦 Wilberforce Rd at Bushells Lagoon may be inundated
📏💦 Old Kurrajong Rd near Francis St Richmond may be inundated
📏💦 Multiple locations along Pitt Town Bottoms Road may be inundated
📏💦 Kolora Rd, Ebenezer may be inundated
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Consider the consequences of road and bridge closures and water over roads and make alternate arrangements for work, children, and travel.
Farmers should consider moving pumps and farm equipment to higher ground.
Horses and livestock should be relocated from low-lying paddocks.
People in areas likely to be impacted by flooding should raise their assets, including waste and chemical containers above expected flood heights.
Obey all signs about road closures and instructions from emergency services.
Never drive, walk, ride through, play or swim in flood water - it is dangerous, toxic, and may void your car insurance. If it's flooded, forget. Fines may apply.
Avoid storm drains and pipes, ditches, ravines, creeks, and rivers.
