Ensuring you maintain your antifouling is one of the most important aspects of boat upkeep.

It keeps hull growth to a minimum, meaning that drag is minimised and speed/efficiency is maximised. Even light growth impacts speed and responsiveness. It also protects the surface of the hull, minimising both water absorption and marine growth.

Renewing the antifoul on a regular basis means that the hull is also being inspected on a regular basis, which in turn means that issues under the waterline can be found and dealt with before they become much larger, more expensive problems.

The ideal schedule for antifouling depends on a number of factors, but here in the Lakes we tend to recommend that it takes place annually, giving you a chance to inspect the hull and replace anodes alongside the antifouling application.

If your boat is overdue for an antifoul, please get in touch!

⚓ Workwear that works ⚓
Jess is proud to be rocking SÜK Workwear down here at Bury’s Slipway — tough, comfortable gear made for real work - on the slip, in the garden or at the pub.

Good boats deserve good workmanship… and good workwear.

Mimosa from Suk visited us and spent some time showing her around, talking all things workwear, craft, and industry, and sharing what goes on day-to-day at the Slipway.
