Last week Nicholas, Grant and Dean caught up as a team to reflect on the year that has been for .

We enjoyed a nice lunch .cronulla with our sister businesses + Bedggood Insurance Brokers and of course - our trusted AFSL Holder .

This year we’ve seen significant growth of our product as well as an expansion to be able to write coverage for International Vessel Deliveries to/from Australia.

2026 wil be an even bigger year as we eye continued growth and expansion.

Over the past few months we have seen a significant increase in the amount of Skippers purchasing .

We’ve received many enquiries and it certainly feels that our message is starting to sink in (excuse the pun!) - Freelance Contracted Skippers are not guaranteed to be covered by a Vessels Insurer and in fact it can be quite the opposite.

If you damage a vessel you are being paid to operate or move - then there is every chance the Vessels Insurer will come after you Financially to recoup the costs for damage caused to the Vessel.

Even worse - if you injure somebody in a boating accident, cover under the Vessels Insurance Policy may specifically exclude or fail to extend to cover you for your negligence.

Just remember - The only way you as a Freelance Contracted Skipper - The Only way you can ensure that you are Insured is with

If you’ve followed our journey for atleast the last 12 Months then there is no doubt you would have seen and heard about the Claims Case Study involving one of our Skippers.

Even after telling our story and demonstrating the need for Freelance Skippers to have their own Liability Insurance we still get Skippers telling us that they don’t believe they need the cover and they are convinced the vessels Insurer will protect them. 🙄😂

Insurance Companies are not Charities. They aren’t in the business of extending cover to as many people or parties as they possibly can.

At the end of the day, they will happily see a Skipper have to sell their home to pay them for damages caused to an Insured Vessel if it means they can eradicate a significant loss off their balance sheet and improve profitability.

Don’t bury your head in the sand.
