The northern end of the Gold Coast is very different from the southern end. In the south we love our hinterland, our native animals, our clean creeks, rivers and waterlands. From Burleigh to Tallebudgera, Kirra to Currumbin and our stunning, rich biodiversity valleys must be preserved at all cost. This area is where nature has done some of her finest work and people travel from all over the world to visit and study, recuperate, heal and recover from our mad world.
But the region is under serious threat. Not satisfied with the destruction caused in Surfers Paradise the Developers, with State and Local Government support, have already begun their relentless march south. Profiteering is their game. Get as much as you can, as fast as you can by erecting the tallest, ugliest high rise that devours our coastal beach areas and breaks all of our Town Planning laws.
Our current Mayor has a majority of like minded supporters in Council that override the residents objections. Even more sinister is a clandestine system of Special Delegation approvals where, when full Council cannot or is not sitting he and two others issue green light approvals to buildings that break all the rules like exceeding current height limits, ignoring established, healthy building setback to provide open space, and rarely does the aesthetics come under scrutiny. The residents know nothing about these approvals until they start digging the holes. This consuming greed is devouring the classic charm and character of a true blue Aussie coastal lifestyle.
From the footsteps in the sand to full immersion into our forests we want low density habitat sympathetic to our environment, our birds, our Koala, our countless native flora and fauna. Please consider whats at risk for all Australians and if you agree then sign and support our objections.
No Light Rail in Burleigh, Koala Park and Palm Beach. Stop High Density High Rises
