Nurses who bought their first home using the government guarantee scheme, this one is worth reading.
Getting into the market with a low deposit was a smart move. But that same scheme can feel restrictive when you want to refinance or access the equity you have built up, because most lenders require your LVR to be below 80% before they will let you move without paying LMI.
The nurse LMI waiver changes that. Select lenders will allow registered nurses to refinance up to 90% LVR without LMI, which means you can review your rate, access equity and potentially use it for renovations, debt consolidation or a deposit on an investment property, without having to wait until you hit that 80% threshold.
If you bought with a low deposit and are wondering what your options look like now, it is worth having that conversation.
