Do you know someone aged between 12-25 who lives, works, studies or plays in Burnside and wants to make a difference in the local area? Join us at the Burnside Youth Forum on Friday 22 March from 4 pm - 7 pm at Glenunga Hub, where young people will have the chance for their ideas, experiences and concerns to take centre stage. This is a chance to chat, connect and work together to tell the City of Burnside what you want and need to make our community an amazing place for young people.

Working in collaboration with the Youth Affairs Council of South Australia, we are excited to hear your valuable feedback to create a plan that works for you. You don’t need to see yourself as a leader or change-maker, you just need to tell us what you think.

Thank you to everyone who came along to our Grandma Era: Learn to Knit session yesterday at Burnside Library as part of our ongoing School Holiday Program. It was great to see our younger attendees gaining knowledge from our more experienced knitters in a relaxed and engaging atmosphere!

This session was held in our new 'Teen Lounge' within Burnside Library, which can be found next to the Local History Room. This space is designed for local youth to study, read, relax and find their next favourite book!

The City of Burnside is sponsoring two people who live in Burnside between the ages of 15 - 19 who are keen to test their skills on the Rotary Youth Sailing Challenge! ⛵

There are two voyages:
1. 17 May 2023, Adelaide to Melbourne
2. 4 June 2023, Melbourne to Adelaide

Council is offering sponsorship for this year's Youth Parliament for two young people who live, work or study within the City of Burnside.

The City of Burnside has an exciting opportunity for young artists aged 13 - 18 who live, work or study within the Council area to apply to participate in a one day art workshop at the Adelaide Central School of Art. The Youth Art Intensive Workshop gives young emerging artists the opportunity to hone their skills under the supervision of a professional artist and have their works exhibited at the Burnside Community Centres throughout April. Do you want to become a swimming instructor? AUSTSWIM will be providing training for Teacher of Swimming and Safety certification next weekend on Saturday 29 October and Sunday 30 October. At the end of the course you'll have the skills to be an accredited swimming instructor - perhaps even here at the George Bolton Swimming Centre! Looking for a fun, sustainable activity for the kids these school holidays? KESAB environmental solutions and East Waste are hosting a beeswax wrap craft session for young people aged 7 and over on Monday 18 July.

This is a fun and fantastic way to reduce plastic waste and create something beautiful, practical and eco-friendly! All participants will get their own personalised wrap to take home and use, plus care instructions and a DIY manual so you can do it again at home.

Last week several local students completed our Cooking for a Cause program, which is a free four week course that teaches young people how to cook healthy, nutritious meals. These cooked meals are then delivered to local homelessness support organisations via OzHarvestSA to provide to South Australians in need.
