No Lights No Lycra is a dance night that was started in 2009 in Melbourne by dance students Alice Glenn and Heidi Barrett. There is no light, no lycra, no teacher, no steps to learn, no technique, just free movement. No Lights No Lycra is a place where you can completely let go and shake out the stresses of the week in a friendly, non-threatening, drug and alcohol free atmosphere. It’s a place to
experience new tunes and revisit old favourites, a time to lose yourself in the music while working up a sweat. Through word of mouth the night has grown into a global community who share a passion for this experience. Every third Wednesday of the month we look forward to meeting and dancing out our worries together. We’ve danced out sadness, stress and even fatigue and thrown our bodies around the room to the music that gets under our skin.
“this is a pure and spiritual experience, releasing that urge to shake and doing it without dealing with the social nuances of dancing in public”. - Greenpointers Blog Brooklyn NY
