Parents/carers of teenagers - Is there a need for savings & budgeting tips to help our young teens learn healthy money habits.
From age 15 our children can start their 1st job, this comes with a steady stream of income they are not normally use too having access too.
It often hits their bank account one day & then gone shortly afterwards on items they have wanted but could never previously purchase without asking an adult.
It’s an exciting time for them, they are suddenly independent financially in their eyes, and most weeks they will spend most, if not all their pay on takeaway food, the school canteen, or on items that are wants, not needs.
If your teen is like most, even if you do discuss budget & savings with them, do their eyes glaze over?
Our teens have so much going on & these types of conversation are normally not one they want to be having or reach out and ask for help with.
Our question to parents/carers, If we could be that link, that person that has the chance to sit down with them to help put in place a savings & budget plan, a simple plan to get them on board to save for their first car, future travel plans or a large item they really want. Would you find this service being something you’d like your teen to use?
It would be a plan that they can follow & get excited about once they can see their savings building up over time.
We all want our children to grow up financially stable & able to manage their finances in the future, so starting them at an early age is key to great habits.
Please reach out in comments, we would love to hear your thoughts and feedback.
