In the meantime, (if you can) increase your repayment amount 'as if' the interest rate did increase and build yourself a buffer for future uncertainties.

Thinking about choosing a fixed interest rate? Here are some pros and cons for fixed rate loans.

Pros:
- Stability: With a fixed rate mortgage, your interest rate and monthly payments remain the same for the entire term of the fixed rate period, providing stability and predictability in your budgeting.
- Protection: If interest rates rise, your fixed rate loan will not be affected, protecting you from potential payment shock or financial strain during the fixed period.

Cons:
- Lack of flexibility: With a fixed interest rate, most banks won't allow unlimited additional repayments. Also, the additional repayments are normally not able to be redrawn until the end of the fixed period.
- If rates were to decrease your rate would stay the same so you won't be able to access lower interest rates until the fixed period has expired.

Hopefully, these tips will help you determine whether to fix your interest rate or not.
