👕 What workwear can you actually claim?
Just because you wear it to work, doesn’t always mean it’s claimable.
✅ Safety gear and PPE like gloves, hi-vis, steel caps and safety glasses are usually okay.
❌ Everyday clothing like plain jeans, hoodies, t-shirts and normal jackets usually aren’t claimable, even if they get dirty onsite.
The general rule?
If it protects you, your staff, or is clearly identifiable as workwear, you’re usually on the right track.
Not sure? Better to ask before the ATO asks later.

💳 Just because the money left your account doesn’t mean the ATO will accept it as proof!

An EFTPOS receipt tells you how you paid — not what you bought.

For business expenses, you still need a proper tax invoice or receipt showing:
✅ Supplier details
✅ What was purchased
✅ Date of purchase
✅ GST details (where applicable)

Save yourself the stress at BAS time — keep the invoice, not just the payment slip! 🙌

GST can be confusing when you’re growing your business.

One of the most common questions we hear is:

*“When do I actually need to register for GST?”*

In most cases, you need to register for GST once your business turnover reaches $75,000 or more. You also need to keep an eye on your expected turnover, not just what has already happened.

A few simple things to remember:

✅ If you are not registered for GST, you generally should not be charging GST on your invoices.
✅ If you are registered for GST, you need to charge GST on taxable sales and lodge a BAS.
✅ If you think your turnover is getting close to the threshold, it is better to check early rather than fix it later.
✅ Once you become aware you need to register, you generally have 21 days to do it.

This is why regular bookkeeping matters. It helps you spot these things before they become a messy clean-up job.

The Late Payment Offset for super is ending.

From 1 July 2026, late super means:
➡️ Lodge an SGC Statement
➡️ Pay the ATO
➡️ No offsets

Final window: March 2026 quarter (if paid by 30 June)
After that, there’s no buffer.
With Payday Super coming, it’s time to get payroll and cashflow tight — late payments will cost more.

The best place to get your tax advice from is always your Tax Agent. The rules are constantly changing and they are best placed to advise you on your overall position.

The number of ‘finfluencers’ are on the rise. These are influencers who offer financial advice, including tax advice, on various social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok. Unfortunately, they don’t always have the necessary qualifications to give out this advice or provide all the information you need to make a fully informed decision. This can result in you losing thousands of dollars and cause you serious financial harm. Find out how: https://ow.ly/ZLjq50W1lUt
