🚨 Minimum Wage Increase Announced by Fair Work – Effective 1 July 2025 🚨

Fair Work has just confirmed the annual wage review outcome: the National Minimum Wage and award minimum rates will increase from 1 July 2025.

This change affects not just minimum-wage employees but potentially anyone covered by a Modern Award or Enterprise Agreement (EA) that links to award rates.

What employers should be doing now:

1. Review your payroll systems – Ensure you're ready to apply the new rates from the first full pay period on or after 1 July.
2. Test EA rates – If you're under an Enterprise Agreement, check whether your rates still pass the BOOT (Better Off Overall Test) against the new award minimums.
3. Prepare employee communications – If pay rates are changing, consider issuing updated pay letters or notices before the increase takes effect.
4. Update budgets and forecasts – Factor in higher labour costs for FY25–26.
5. Audit casual loadings, allowances, and penalties – These may also be impacted by the base rate changes.

This is a great opportunity to double-check your compliance, especially if your EA hasn’t been reviewed in a while or if you have employees paid close to minimum award rates.
