🥂 Tax Time – Time Out!

What a great night!

Last night, Oracle Insolvency Services was delighted to welcome clients, colleagues and friends for our Tax Time – Time Out at the fantastic new rooftop bar at Hotel Panorama.

Great drinks, delicious food, plenty of laughs and, most importantly, some genuinely good conversations.

It was a chance to step away from the deadlines and day-to-day pressures of a busy time of year, catch up with familiar faces, make some new connections and simply enjoy a little time out.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening such a success. It was great to see some new faces, strengthen existing relationships and make a few new ones along the way.

And what a venue! 🙌 Hotel Panorama certainly provided the perfect backdrop for a relaxed night of networking and good times.

A successful Small Business Restructuring outcome 🏗️

A residential construction company approached us facing significant financial pressure, with the ATO as its largest creditor alongside several supplier debts.
Working with the company, a Restructuring Plan was developed proposing a lump-sum payment and delivering creditors a return of more than 30 cents in the dollar.
When additional ATO liabilities arose following outstanding BAS and income tax return lodgements, the Plan was revised to maintain the proposed level of return to creditors.
Importantly, the proposal also addressed why the business had experienced financial difficulty and what would change going forward to help prevent the same issues recurring.

The result? The Plan was accepted by creditors, including the ATO.

✅ Liquidation avoided
✅ Business able to move forward
✅ No jobs lost

A strong example of how Small Business Restructuring can provide a viable business with an opportunity to address its debts, make meaningful operational changes and work towards a more sustainable future.

What a fantastic evening at Oracle Insolvency Services!

Last night, we had the pleasure of hosting an intimate networking event at our office, bringing together a wonderful group of accounting professionals for an evening of meaningful conversations, new connections, and shared insights.
With delicious canapés, great w**e, and an inviting atmosphere, the night was filled with engaging discussions, plenty of laughs, and valuable networking opportunities. It was a pleasure to connect with so many talented professionals and strengthen relationships within our industry.

The Federal Court has upheld a $9M freezing order in the Suhren bankruptcy, recognising a serious case to be tried. This is an important development for Oracle Insolvency Services as we continue to diligently pursue recovery actions. Read a summary of the decision here:

🚀 Part X Accepted – Bankruptcy Avoided!

Big wins don’t always come with flashing lights — sometimes they’re about helping someone hit reset and get their future back on track.

We recently assisted an individual who had a tiling contractor business in Sydney. He faced serious financial challenges after a major builder collapsed, leaving him with crippling bad debts. With mounting pressure from suppliers and the ATO, bankruptcy seemed inevitable.

But here’s the twist: with the right guidance, a Personal Insolvency Agreement (PIA) under Part X of the Bankruptcy Act gave him another path forward.
💡 Instead of bankruptcy, he worked with us to craft a proposal that creditors (including the ATO) unanimously accepted. His family backed him with financial support, allowing him to put forward a lump-sum offer. Creditors walked away with around 10 cents in the dollar — far better than the zero they’d receive in a bankruptcy scenario.
The outcome?

👉 No bankruptcy.
👉 Creditors satisfied.
👉 A chance to rebuild, stronger and smarter.

What makes this powerful is not just the financial result, but the confidence it restores. Our client now has the breathing room to focus on running his business the right way — with proper systems, advisers, and a stronger mindset.
This case is a reminder that insolvency doesn’t have to mean the end. With the right timing, advice, and strategy, it can be the beginning of a fresh chapter.

Last week, Oracle Insolvency Services hosted the highly anticipated OracleIS Lawn Bowls Cup at Clarence Gardens Bowling Club, and let’s just say… the competition was fierce, the pizza was plentiful, and the bowls? Well, they didn’t always go where we intended. 😆
