Ernus Smit is the Head Farrier at Smit Farrier Trading, and he has amassed over 25 years of professional experience in this field. His love for horses emerged as a young child, and he began his career at the tender age of 15.

With a qualification from Potchefstroom Military veterinarian hospital under his belt, Ernus has worked extensively across many countries including South Africa, Namibia, Russia and the UAE. He is an expert across all disciplines but specialises in sports horses.

Happy Mother’s Day to our wonderful Mum, who taught us about horses from a very young age. In 1984 our mother started a riding school, where all 3 Smit brothers learned to ride horses. After Ernus went to the SANDF and qualified as a Farrier, he taught both his younger brothers the trade, and all 3 have worked together in the UAE. Our love of horses was instilled from a young age, and for this we thank our Mum, and wish her a very happy Mother’s Day.
